Central Depository Services (CDSL) has announced a revised uniform tariff structure for its 13 crore investors, effective from October 1, 2024. Under the new structure, there will be a standardized charge of Rs 3.5 per debit transaction, the company stated on Thursday, September 26.
Discounts for Female Investors and Specific Transactions to Continue
While revising the tariff, CDSL confirmed that existing discounts on various transaction types will remain unchanged. Female demat account holders, defined as sole or first holders of the account, will continue to receive a Rs 0.25 discount per debit transaction.
Similarly, a discount of Rs 0.25 per debit transaction for Mutual Funds and bond ISINs will also remain applicable.
Earlier Tariff Range and Investor Impact
Previously, CDSL’s per debit transaction fee ranged between Rs 3.75 and Rs 5.5. The new uniform rate is expected to provide a more streamlined experience for the company’s large investor base.
Stock Performance
Following the announcement, shares of CDSL recovered from the day’s lows and traded flat at Rs 1,496 per share. If the stock closes with gains, it will break a three-day losing streak, which followed an eight-day rally.
