Shrini Vishwanath, Co-Founder of wealth management platform Upstox, has become an inspiration of sheer dedication and determination after he shared about his incredible weight loss journey.

In a X post, Vishwanath never truly focused on my health—until he found out he was going to be a dad. After he got to know that he is going to be a father soon, embarked on a 100-day challenge that resulted in an impressive weight loss of 13 kgs, taking him from 68 kg to 55 kg.

He revealed that over the past 100 days, he took his nutrition seriously for the first time, and the results have been incredible:

  • Lost 10 kgs of fat and shaved 4 inches off my waist
  • Weigh the same as I did in college, but I’m stronger at 38 than I was at 18
  • My energy levels have noticeably improved, and I need much less caffeine
  • I snore a lot less in bed, which has been a huge win for me (and my family!)

According to a report by TOI, he began by setting a clear goal and holding himself accountable with an unconventional method: scheduling a professional photoshoot for the 100th day of his challenge.

What worked for the Shrini Viswanath?

In a detailed X post, the Upstox founder shared the following details:

  • Hydration is key: Drink 3 liters of water daily—hydration boosts energy and health.
  • Daily steps matter: Walking 8,000 steps a day may seem small, but it helps with energy expenditure.
  • Gym time is minimal: I train 2.5–3 hours per week—consistency beats overdoing it.
  • Nutrition is everything: Fat loss is 90% in the kitchen, not the gym. Prioritize real, nutrient-dense food over fast food.

Nutrition is the key

Vishwanath revealed that although he has been hitting the gym regularly for more than a decade, he never paid much attention to nutrition. His diet plan included:

  • He completely avoided processed foods and white sugar. All kinds of fried items were strictly off the menu too.
  • Fibre-rich carbohydrates, healthy fats, and proteins became staples of his diet.
  • Instead of eliminating sweets entirely, Shrini opted for moderation, allowing himself small portions of his favorite treats.

“No matter how much money you make, it means little if you’re not healthy enough to spend quality time with loved ones. Health comes before wealth,” Vishwanath revealed.

“It’s January and that means it’s usually time for a lot of new year resolutions. I’d love to have more discussions around eating healthy, strategies on how to beat the craving for junk food, etc.,” he posted.
