Animated mythology film ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’, based on the Narsimha reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, a story well known from Indian scriptures, has became the first animated movie to enter Rs 100 crore club after running for two weeks. On its day 17 (August 10), the film earned Rs 12.63 crore till 5 pm, leading the net India collection to cross the Rs 157 crore mark.
The movie, which has stories from three ancient Puranas, is directed by Ashwin Kumar over the span of four years, as per media reports.
Box office collection
According to Industry tracker Sacnilk, the film saw a strong opening with its first-week collection reaching Rs 44.75 crore, and its second week showing an even greater performance with a total of Rs 73.4 crore. The collection was significantly boosted on its second weekend, with a massive jump on the second Saturday and Sunday. On its 16th day, the film collected an estimated Rs 19.45 crore, bringing its total to over Rs 145 crore. The Hindi version of the film has been the primary driver of its success, making a significant contribution to its total box office earnings.
Occupancy rate
The Hindi 2D version of “Mahavatar Narsimha” recorded an overall occupancy of 38.90 per cent on day 17. The film saw 50.88 per cent occupancy in the afternoon, building on its morning shows which had an occupancy rate of 26.91 per cent.
Similary, the Telugu 3D version of “Mahavatar Narsimha” demonstrated a strong overall occupancy of 64.17 per cent. The film’s theatrical performance peaked during the afternoon shows, which recorded 74.59 per cent occupancy, following a solid start with morning shows at 53.75 per cent.
