Grammys 2024: This year’s Grammy Awards honor roll celebrated artists like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus and also recognized percussionist Zakir Hussain and flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, who clinched the Best Global Music Performance award. Their winning track, “Pashto,” features collaborations with American musicians Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer. The category boasted diverse nominees, including Falu’s “Abundance In Millets,” which featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and “Shadow Forces” by Arooj Aftab and Vijay Iyer.

Zakir Hussain’s supergroup Shakti, including vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, also secured victory in the Best Global Music Album category for “This Moment.” Shakti, formed by violinist L. Shankar, percussionist Vikku Vinayakram, and British guitarist John McLaughlin, continues to leave its mark on the global music scene.

Taylor Swift accepted her 13th Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for her album Midnights. With the acceptance of the award, Taylor Swift announced her new album “The Tortured Poets Department”. The album will be released on April 19, 2024.

The singer-songwriter thanked the members of the Recording Academy for the votes. She also thanked her fans and after announcing the album on-stage, the singer posted the cover of the album on her Instagram account. 

“It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage”, she said at the end of her speech.

Miley Cyrus clinched her inaugural Grammy Award, securing the title of Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Flowers.” This achievement was unexpected by Cyrus. She acknowledged this with a symbolic awards show speech.

The category’s announcement marked the commencement of the evening, announced by Mariah Carey. In the presence of Carey, Cyrus expressed her awe, remarking, “I’m gonna stand by this MC for this because this is just too iconic.”
