Rohit Bal, a celebrated figure in the fashion industry, passed away Friday at the age of 63.

Sunil Sethi, chairman of the FDCI, confirmed the news, stating that Bal had been battling a heart condition for some time. “He had been battling heart ailment for a while. He was rushed to the hospital today…but didn’t make it,” Sethi told The Indian Express.

Bal recently showcased his collection, Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe, at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week, where actress Ananya Panday served as his muse on the runway.

In 2010, Bal experienced a cardiac arrest and subsequently underwent an angioplasty. The announcement of his passing has sent shockwaves through the fashion community, with many taking to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the designer.

Industrialist Gautam Singhania mourned Bal’s death on X, writing, “Heartbroken to say goodbye to an incredible friend. You brought so much light, laughter, and kindness into the lives of everyone around you. I’m grateful for every moment we shared, every laugh, every conversation. You’ll be missed beyond words, but your spirit will live on in all of us. Rest peacefully, my friend. #RohitBal #GoneButNeverForgotten #InLovingMemory.”
