In exciting news for fans of Disney’s animated franchise Zootopia, the sequel Zootopia 2, broke Box Office records by recording the second highest ticket sales for a preview alone. The film easily breezed past Frozen 2’s impressive record of $8.5 million in earnings and managed to rake in collections of $10.2 million from previews on Tuesday. Though it could not beat the record for Moana 2, which also premiered on Thanksgiving, the film’s feat is highly commendable.
Initial numbers from the Chinese Box Office predict a very successful run at the worldwide Box Office and a position at the top of the charts with a record earning of $33.7 million on opening day as per Fandomwire.

Disney’s animated sequel about anthropomorphic animals follows in the heels of the successful first movie which managed to earn over $1 billion during its theatrical run as per Variety; In 2016, it was the fourth highest grossing movie of the year and its incredible achievements led to not only a spin-off series, Zootopia+, but also the highly-anticipated sequel which has been predicted to make a massive debut over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Zootopia 2 was released in the US on November 26 2025 and is already off to a stellar start. With Thanksgiving falling on a Thursday, the film’s creators and industry experts are expecting festive fervour to carry on the momentum through the weekend and boost ticket sales. Currently, the film has a critical rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and positive word of mouth will ensure that the sequel will rake in at least $125-$150 million during its five-day opening.
