Global K-pop sensation BTS is back in the headlines after a Bloomberg report claimed the group is preparing for its biggest world tour ever, with 65 shows planned for 2026. However, hours after the report went viral, the group’s label Big Hit Music told OSEN that nothing about the tour, including the schedule or the number of shows has been finalised yet.
“Details regarding the dates and scale of BTS’ new world tour remain unconfirmed,” Big Hit Music told OSEN in the statement. “The dates mentioned are not the latest number we are discussing,” the statement further read.
All seven members of BTS reunite after service
The excitement around a comeback tour comes right after a major milestone for the group. As of June, all seven members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, have completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. The band has since reunited and is currently working on a new album, which is expected to release around March 2026. If the timeline holds, the world tour would likely begin soon after the album launch.
Possible tour after album release
This will be BTS’ first full-group world tour in years. The last time all seven members performed together was in April 2022 in Las Vegas, the final stop of a four-city tour that earned 18 million dollars from 12 shows. Before military enlistment, BTS had been at the peak of global music charts and was named the world’s top-selling act in both 2020 and 2021 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
The group had originally planned a large world tour for 2020, including an India stop in Mumbai as part of the ‘Map of the Soul’ tour. However, the entire tour was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years, members have repeatedly mentioned their desire to perform in India, and the country continues to be one of BTS’ biggest international fan bases.
All eyes on a possible India concert
India holds one of the largest BTS fan bases outside Korea. The band had earlier locked in Mumbai for their ‘Map of the Soul’ 2020 tour before it was cancelled. With talks of a massive return tour, fans in India are hopeful the city will finally make the list.
If Mumbai is added, it would mark a major cultural milestone for Indian K-pop fans and could encourage other Korean acts to consider India for large-scale tours. For now, the fans, especially in India, are waiting for an official announcement. With a new album on the way and full-group activities resuming after nearly four years, BTS’ return is already one of the most anticipated music events of 2026.
