Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth came together to mark a major milestone in their eldest son’s life. Yathra Raja, their oldest son, officially graduated from American International School in Chennai, and the proud parents commemorated the moment with their presence.

On Saturday, Dhanush shared a series of photographs from the ceremony on Instagram, where Yathra was dressed in his deep blue graduation robe and cap, flanked by his parents. Dhanush, dressed in a crisp white shirt, can be seen proudly hugging his son, while Aishwarya stood close. The actor’s caption was as succinct as it was heartfelt: “PROUD PARENTS #yathra,” along with heart emojis.

Studies and academics

Born on October 10, 2006, Yathra is now 19 years old. Having completed his schooling in Chennai, Yatra likes to maintain his distance from the limelight, much like his father.

Last year he made headlines when he scored an extraordinary 569 out of 600 in his Class 12 board examinations. Though never officially confirmed by the family, Dhanush did share the remarkable achievement online. His individual subject scores were – 98 in language studies, 92 in English, 99 in mathematics, 91 in physics, 92 in chemistry, and 97 in biology.

Yathra Raja’s 2023 incident

In 2023, Yathra briefly faced controversy when he was seen riding a superbike without a helmet or license in Chennai’s Poes Garden area. Footage of the event, in which he was reportedly being instructed on bike-riding, surfaced online before being removed. The Tamil Nadu Traffic Police intervened, issuing a fine, as Yathra was underage at the time.

Dhanush and Aishwarya’s co-parenting of both sons

Notably, Dhanush and Aishwarya, who announced their separation in January 2022, have been co-parenting both their sons. Despite their personal parting, the couple has made consistent efforts to ensure that Yathra and his younger brother, Linga, experience a stable and supportive upbringing. As ETimes reported at the time, the two agreed to co-parent, making sure one parent was always present in their children’s lives.

Yathra Raja’s debut in films

Yathra recently stepped into the world of cinema with his father’s third directorial feature, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam or NEEK. The film, a romantic comedy headlined by Anikha Surendran, Priya Prakash Varrier, and Mathew Thomas, became a point of discussion when actor SJ Suryah shared that Yathra had penned the lyrics for the film’s first single, “Golden Sparrow.”

“I had the privilege to watch the song with @dhanushkraja sir and pretty @priyankaamohan… and the song penned by dhanush sir son #yathradhanush amazed boy (sic),” SJ Suryah wrote.

However, in a gentle clarification, Sreyas, CEO of Dhanush’s Wunderbar Studios, revealed that Yathra had contributed only four lines to the track. The official poster for the song credited Arivu as both singer and lyricist.
