Nick Reiner, son of Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, was arrested Sunday night after his parents were found stabbed to death at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles. He is being held without bail at the city’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility. The couple’s deaths are being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were married for 35 years. Emergency services were called to their Brentwood home after reports of a medical emergency. According to TMZ, the couple suffered injuries described as lacerations consistent with a knife attack. Authorities have not released further details about the cause of death, but media reports including PEOPLE suspect that Nick is behind the murder.
The couple is survived by four children including sons Jake and Nick, daughter Romy, and Tracy Marshall, Rob Reiner’s daughter from his previous marriage to the late Penny Marshall.
Who is Nick Reiner?
