Dhanush’s upcoming crime drama film Kuberaa is all set to hit the big screens on June 20. The pan-India film will mark Dhanush’s 51st movie as a lead actor. With a stellar cast, including Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh featuring alongside Dhanush, the movie is bound to be an exciting release. National Award winning director Sekhar Kammula has directed the film, whose filmography includes the likes of Dollar Dreams, Fidaa and Anand.
The movie has received a U/A certificate from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with a run-time of 181 minutes. Initially, a longer cut of 195 minutes was cleared. The makers, however, explained that this was deliberately done to avoid last minute stress and obstacles. The final product is barely over three hours.
What the film Kuberaa is about
Kuberaa features Dhanush as a beggar named Deva who undertakes a fight against corruption. He is raised from his conditions of poverty by Nagarjuna’s character, who introduces him to the reality of how much their world is consumed by money and power. Dhanush’s character decides to revolt against corrupt politicians and businessmen, Jim Sarbh’s character being one of them. Dhanush’s revolt creates havoc, causing Nagarjuna’s character to try and track him down to kill him.
The trailer for the film was launched at a pre-release event in Hyderabad, where legendary filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli was present as the chief guest. The two minute and 38-second-long trailer foreshadows a complex social thriller with a twist.
Pre-bookings for Kuberaa
Pre-bookings for the tickets are already underway, with makers having opted for dynamic ticket prices, reports the Andhra Box Office. Single-screen theatres are witnessing ticket prices between Rs 150 to Rs 175. Meanwhile, viewers have to pay between Rs 250 to Rs 259 if they wish to see the movie in multiplexes.
Dhanush’s experience working on the film
At the launch event of the film’s third song, Dhanush spoke about the special place the role holds in his heart, and how it reminded him of his ‘humble beginnings’.
“To see another part of the world, a sight which you’re not exposed to… You’re always in your comfort zone, like you do only what’s convenient, you’re protected. I come from very humble rooted beginnings.”, Dhanush said.
“Today, I’m here by God’s grace. I’ve seen that, and to go back there to see that world again, it was very enlightening and nostalgic. I’m very thankful to this film for so many reasons, but it takes me back to my childhood as well as one of them,” he further added.
