As I settled in to watch “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,” I was hopeful that Rajkummar Rao would deliver yet another memorable performance. Unfortunately, what I found was a film that tries but fails to blend vulgar comedy with a meaningful narrative about the perils of personal video exploitation.

One of the most perplexing decisions was the inclusion of a ghost subplot, which felt utterly unnecessary and confusing. Rather than enhancing the narrative, it serves as a distracting gimmick that adds little to the story. It’s almost as if the filmmakers were unsure of how to fill the gaps in the plot, resorting to supernatural elements that do nothing to aid the couple’s journey or the film’s overall message.
The film attempts to address the consequences of personal videos being exploited for profit, shedding light on how lives can be ruined by bad intentions. However, this critical message gets lost in the muddle of vulgar humor and slapstick scenarios. Instead of fostering a sense of empathy, the film resorts to cheap laughs that ultimately trivialize a serious issue.
Despite the presence of Rajkummar Rao, who tries his best to navigate through this disjointed script, even his considerable talent cannot rescue the film. His character feels underdeveloped, and it’s frustrating to watch an actor of his caliber get sidelined by poorly crafted dialogue and clichés.
