The Girlfriend box office collection week 1: Rashmika Mandanna has had a great cinematic run this year. From Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava to Maddock’s Thamma, Mandanna has stunned her fans with her diverse range of performances. After a series of big-grossing films, the south-superstar Mandanna returned to the Telugu romantic-drama, The Girlfriend.

Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the Internet has showered the headlining actress with rave reviews and lauded her for her performance in this sensitive role. Starring alongside Dheekshith Shetty, Mandanna explores the perils of a toxic relationship. On the other hand, netizens are also calling her a ‘woman written by a man,’ as the reviews remain mixed.

The Girlfriend collection week 1: Box office update

Opening to a slow start, The Girlfriend collected Rs 1.3 crore on its first day. Seeing an 84.6% jump, it grossed more than Rs 5 crore over the weekend. Hitting the weekday slump, the Rashmika Mandanna starrer stayed above the Rs 1 crore mark. Continuing consistently, the romantic drama saw a 57% dip as it hit Monday. On Day 7, the box office collection for The Girlfriend crossed Rs 11 crore after collecting Rs 1.10 crore.

Globally, The Girlfriend has made more than Rs 6 crore, taking the worldwide box office collection to Rs 18 crore, as per a Sacnilk report. The occupancy saw a little dip as makers hope for a second-weekend redemption. With overall numbers to be more than 17%, The Girlfriend remains a consistent hit in Hyderabad. Filling more than 20% seats across the 353 shows in the city, Bengaluru remained significantly lower.

The Girlfriend OTT release

While there has been no official release, fans await the OTT release of Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘The Girlfriend’. As per reports, it is likely to drop online on Netflix following a Rs 14 crore deal with the OTT giant. Positioning South Cinema to the world, the Telugu romantic-drama will soon be available in other languages, likely in December. The Rashmika-Dheekshith duo is supported by Anu Emmanuel, Rao Ramesh, and Rohini in key roles.
