Aanand L Rai’s latest musical romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon is performing fairly well at the Indian Box Office. The movie which was released on November 28, 2025 has managed to make collections amounting to Rs 51.75 crores within the first three days of release as per Sacnilk.

Hailed as a spiritual sequel to Raanjhanaa (2013), the Tere Ishk Mein was announced on June 23, which happened to be the 10 year anniversary of the first film starring Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor in key roles. Director Aanand L Rai said that the movie would be made with the sensibilities of Raanjhanaa, but for a Gen Z audience according to the Times of India.

Tere Ishk Mein’s Box Office performance and theatre occupancy

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, The film had a decent opening at the Box Office on Day 1 with an India net collection of Rs 16 crores. The film’s collections surged by 6.25% on Day 2 and managed to rake in Rs 17 crores, maintaining a steady upward curve. Then on Day 3, the Dhanush-Kriti starrer went further and beat the previous day’s collections by earning an impressive 18.75 crores which brings the total India net collection to Rs 51.75 crores.

Tere Ishk Mein pulled in majorly Hindi and Tamil audiences at theatres, with an overall Hindi occupancy of 32.82% on Sunday, November 30 2025, and an overall Tamil occupancy of 19.88%. Delhi-NCR had the highest number of shows with 1268, followed by Mumbai with 922, Ahmedabad with 542 and Pune with 431. Afternoon and Evening shows across the locations had the most share of theatre occupants.

The film’s advanced booking numbers were also pretty impressive, registering the 7th best opening day pre-sales for a Bollywood feature in 2025. It beat Baghi (Rs 5.54 crores), Sitaare Zameer Par (Rs 3.1 crore) and Sky Force’s (Rs 3.82 crore) pre-sale earnings with a gross collection of Rs 5.65 crores as per Sacnilk.

About the film

Tere Ishk mein follows Shankar (Dhanush) as he falls in love with Ph.D student Mukti (Kriti) who conducts her thesis on him. The two meet years later after Mukti ends their romance and moves on, prompting Shankar to join the Indian Air force. Their past resurfaces and forces them to confront their unresolved feelings.

With a rating of 8.2/10 on IMDb, the synopsis of the film reads, “Shankar and Mukti’s intense love story unfolds against the backdrop of Benaras, exploring surrender and transformation through an all-consuming romance that heals, hurts, and changes them.” The movie received mixed reviews by critics who praised the strong performances by the actors, but criticised the toxic and problematic narrative and a weak second half.
