Indian music sensation Arijit Singh has gone and done it again! For the third time in a row, the hit-maker behind tunes like “Tum Hi Ho,” and “O Maahi” has bested fellow globally loved artists like American pop queen Taylor Swift and chart-topping K-pop boy group BTS on Spotify.

As of Thursday (July 3, 2025), the Padma Shri awardee has once again clinched the title of the most-followed artist on Spotify, according to music data tracking site ChartsMasters.org.

Boasting a follower-count of 151,345,366, he even beat fellow Indian music director Pritam, with whom he’s even joined forces for the brand-new Bollywood flick Metro… In Dino releasing in theatres today. Legendary composer AR Rahman also failed to climb to the same levels of Spotify fame.

Rahman who powered the effortlessly timeless track “Maa Tujhe Salaam,” scored the 14th spot, whereas Pritam fell out of the Top 20 at No 21.

As Singh soared to the top of the ‘Most-followed artist on Spotify’ chart, Grammy-winning Taylor Swift again failed to win the race, staying behind with 139,594,722 followers. Arijit’s new pal from across the border, Ed Sheeran, also settled for the third spot with a 121,018,507 Spotify followers.

Others trailing them included American musicians Billie Eilish (114,007,590), The Weeknd (107,311,431), Ariana Grande (105,892,177), and Eminem (101,744,148). Canadian rapper Drake secured the 8th rank with 99,689,620 followers, with Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny behind with 97,301,682 supporters on his side. “Baby” hit-maker Justin Bieber from America closed out the Top 10 most-followed artists on Spotify rankings with 83,054,349 loyal listeners backing him.

Meanwhile, K-pop sensation BTS (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook) stood at No 11 with 79,610,963 followers. Fellow South Korean idol group BLACKPINK came in at No 19 with 54,251,688 die-hard fans loving their discography despite an extended band hiatus amid the members’ solo pursuits.

Arijit Singh: ‘Cultural brand ambassador to India’

Filmmaker Mohit Suri, who holds a long-running partnership with Arijit Singh in the Bollywood scene, couldn’t help but gush about the beloved singer as “Dhun,” a song off the director’s film Saiyaara was released just days ago.

“Having seen Arijit Singh grow and become the global sensation that he is today right in front of my eyes, it gives me immense pride and joy!” he said, as quoted by Bollywood Hungama.

Praising the singer’s global rise, he said, “What a brilliant coincidence it is for this news to come out on the same day that we have released Arijit Singh’s song ‘Dhun’ for Saiyaara! From ‘Tum Hi Ho’ in Aashiqui 2 to ‘Dhun’ in Saiyaara, I have known Arijit for 12 years and I’m delighted to see him scaling newer heights and making Indians proud globally.

Suri has since hailed Singh a “brilliant cultural ambassador of India to the world.”
