Shah Rukh Khan, one of Bollywood’s biggest billionaires, is more than just an actor. Often considered synonymous with the film industry itself, he has become a global icon and a significant part of Indian culture. Earlier this year, Danube unveiled a tower named after him, Shahrukhz, just weeks after he was conferred with the National Award for his performance in Jawan (2023).

However, he made headlines last week with the unveiling of a bronze statue from his iconic film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), in London. As he struck the iconic pose beside his co-star Kajol (Simran), it became the first Indian film to feature on the ‘Scenes in the Square’ public art trail by the Heart of London Business Alliance. Speaking at an event in Dubai, he reflected on his achievements and fondly remembered his late parents.

‘So big my parents can see me from heaven’

The ‘king Khan’ of Bollywood, sharing the stage with director Farah Khan, shared that a key moment in his life was the passing of his parents. Losing them at a young age, he shared, “I thought they had become stars in the sky, and they will not be able to see me,” – a popular tale told to children who see death at a young age.

Coming from that burden of dealing with loss, Khan revealed, “I worked harder to become a bigger person. God has been very kind – I just put a bronze statue in London of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and I won the National Award. Now, in Dubai, I have a building by my name.”

“The idea was that I become so big on earth that my parents can see me from heaven,” Shah Rukh Khan concluded.

SRK and Farah Khan at Dubai event

The duo reportedly had a heartfelt reunion on stage at the Shahrukhz by Danube launch event in Dubai. As they danced to their iconic song ‘Chaiya Chaiya’, Farah Khan and SRK shared their friendly banter with the world. With his effortless charm and the director’s loving presence, the two won the hearts of the audience. Another viral moment that turned heads on the Internet was when the Main Hoon Na maker lovingly embraced her friend and co-panellist.

Worth nearly Rs 4000 crore, Shahrukhz by Danube is set to have 55 floors and span across 1 million square feet. The property will have over 40 amenities, including a sky pool, helipad, and exclusive business lounges. With proximity to the Burj Khalifa and the airport, this is set to become one of the most prestigious addresses, bearing Shah Rukh Khan’s name. Each unit of the tower, planned to be completed by 2029, will carry the price tag starting from $460k or Rs 4.2 crore.
