Aamir Khan’s sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par is experiencing an unexpected resurgence at the box office. On its 23rd day in cinemas, the film saw a remarkable 177.78% rise in domestic earnings, which showed renewed audience interest nearly a month after its release.

According to early figures reported by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 2.5 crore across India on Saturday, July 12. This development takes the film’s net domestic total to Rs 157.75 crore. The emotional drama, touted as a spiritual continuation of Khan’s critically acclaimed Taare Zameen Par, has now firmly re-established itself in the box office race.

Directed by RS Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film saw an average 40.26% Hindi-language occupancy on Saturday, reflecting a surge in theatre-goers despite facing competition from new titles such as Maalik, Superman, and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which released a day earlier. In contrast, the film’s occupancy on Friday stood at just 14.64%, indicating a substantial day-on-day jump.

Adapted from the 2018 Spanish hit Champions, Sitaare Zameen Par has made Rs 239.50 crore globally within 21 days of release, with international markets contributing Rs 54 crore to the gross tally. The film debuted in theatres on June 20 and continues to hold steady, even in its fourth week.

With a production cost of Rs 80 crore, the movie has turned out to be one of the biggest commercial successes of the year, currently ranking sixth among the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025, according to IMDb data.

Genelia Deshmukh stars opposite Khan in the film, which also features a diverse ensemble cast including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Samvit Desai, Aayush Bhansali, Dolly Ahluwalia, Brijendra Kala, Ankita Sehgal, Gurpal Singh, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Simran Mangeshkar, and Ashish Pendse.
