The upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, starring Diljit Dosanjh, has landed in controversy following the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding immediate and strict action against the actor, producers Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, and director Amar Hundal.

In its strongly worded letter, FWICE accused the film’s makers of “gross violation” of national directives by hiring a Pakistani national amid ongoing tensions between the two countries. The body further alleged that Hania Aamir has, on multiple occasions, used her social media platforms to “spread venom against India,” glorify terrorist elements, and insult Indian armed forces and national tragedies.

FWICE labeled the collaboration as a “willful affront” to India’s sovereignty, calling it an “unpardonable act” by Indian citizens who owe their fame and fortune to the country. “This decision is not a mere creative choice,” the letter read. “It is a gross betrayal of the nation that gave them identity.”

The body has urged the Prime Minister to cancel the Indian passports and revoke the citizenship of everyone associated with the project, including Dosanjh. “No individual who publicly aligns with voices that glorify terrorism and insult India’s sovereignty should be permitted to carry the credentials of Indian nationality,” FWICE stated.

FWICE concluded the letter by calling for “immediate and exemplary” action to uphold national integrity and respect the sentiments of patriotic Indians worldwide.

Sardaar Ji 3 is scheduled for an overseas release on June 27. As of now, neither Diljit Dosanjh nor the film’s producers have issued an official response to the controversy.
