Salman Khan is the latest Bollywood celeb to move Delhi HC for protection of his personality rights, which includes his name, image, voice, likeness against unauthorised commercial use. In the era of deepfakes and generative AI, more and more actors are seeking legal protection to stop unauthorized use of their identity as being a public personality they are more at the risk of falling victim to fake news, online harassment, cyberbullying, morphed faces, digital stalking and sexually explicit content.
Just a few days before Salman Khan, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR Junior, approached court for a similar relief, as per LiveLaw.
Here are other Bollywood celebrities who sought legal protection of their personality rights in 2025:
Ajay Devgn
In November, Ajay Devgn approached Delhi HC and asked court to take action against unauthorized use of his name, voice, and persona. The actor requested to bar platforms, Facebook groups, and fan pages that made undesirable use of his persona, also flagging pornographic content, including deepfake pornographic content, being circulated. The actor was granted protection as Delhi HC ordered infringing websites to take down deepfakes with inappropriate content as well as other content with unauthorised use of his name.
Abhishek Bachchan
Two months before Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan in September filed a similar case to seek protection on his personality rights. The Delhi HC acknowledged that Bachchan’s persona including his name, images, and signature was being misused by defendent websites without authorisation for him and with the help of AI, and barred such digital platforms from doing so.
Hrithik Roshan
In October, Hrithik Roshan received similar relief when he moved the court for protection of his personality rights. The Delhi High Court protected the personality and publicity rights of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and ordered removal of objectionable posts against him on social media.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Delhi HC in September protected Aishwarya’s rights and strongly objected to the unauthorised exploitation of one’s personality rights saying courts “cannot turn a blind eyes” to such cases. The court restrained platforms creating, sharing, disseminating of products or content using Artificial Intelligence, Generative Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deepfakes, Face Morphing, on any medium and format.
Kumar Sanu
The Bollywood singer sought permanent injunction in Delhi HC, alleging misappropriation of his personality rights. In an interim order on October 15, Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu was granted protection of his name, image, voice and singing style from unauthorised commercial use.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
