Hrithik Roshan and his film Kaabil are stacked to be the underdogs when the Kaabil vs Raees showdown happens on January 25. Of course, Shahrukh Khan’s star power is not to be messed around with, but it looks like Kaabil just got a huge boost from none other than superstar Rajinikanth, according to a report in DNA. The Kabali actor recently showered praises on the upcoming revenge drama and, in particular, commended Hrithik’s performance in the film.

Rajinikanth said, “I have watched the Tamil, Hindi and Telugu trailers of Kaabil and I simply loved it. I also think Hrithik is stupendous. Please tell him that I am eagerly awaiting the film.” Now that’s sure to make Hrithik feel confident about taking the box office by storm.
While the two actors’ names don’t come up together often, their common connect is Rakesh Roshan. Rajinikanth and Rakesh have been close friends ever since their 1986 film Bhagwaan Dada, in which a 12-year-old Hrithik had a supporting role. The film was produced by Hrithik’s uncle J Om Prakash, so Rajini’s part in the film quickly looped him into the family’s close knit circle.

When Rakesh called up to wish Rajini on his birthday (December 12) this year, Rajini took the opportunity to give his personal review of Kaabil. Let’s hope that the Mohenjodaro actor returns the gesture when Rajinikanth’s sci-fi flick 2.0, co-starring Akshay Kumar, comes out next year. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Kaabil follows the story of visually impaired Rohan who sets out to seek justice when his girlfriend is killed by criminals. When the legal system fails him, however, Rohan decides to take matters into his own hands. The film’s dance song Haseeno Ka Dewaana, featuring Urvashi Rautela, has already received 20 million views since its release on YouTube last week.
