Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has taken the box office by storm, emerging as the biggest opening film in Indian cinema history. The highly awaited sequel has earned a staggering Rs 175.1 crore net on its opening day, surpassing SS Rajamouli’s RRR. Achieving this feat on a weekday has highlighted the incredible anticipation and excitement among fans.

The film has performed exceptionally well across languages, with Rs 95.1 crore coming from the Telugu version, Rs 67 crore from Hindi, Rs 7 crore from Tamil, Rs 5 crore from Malayalam, and Rs 1 crore from Kannada. The Telugu version saw an impressive 82.66% occupancy, showcasing the film’s stronghold in the southern markets. In comparison, RRR, which previously held the record, earned Rs 133 crore on its opening day.

The competition among Indian cinema’s biggest openers has now intensified. Pushpa 2: The Rule has already outpaced Kalki 2898 AD with its day-one collection. However, it remains to be seen if it can surpass Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and RRR, which collected Rs 217 crore and Rs 223 crore, respectively, on their first days. Trade experts predict that Pushpa 2 might surpass Rs 250 crore, further cementing its place in history.

Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, Pushpa 2: The Rule reunites Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in their iconic roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Allu Arjun, who won the National Film Award for his role in Pushpa: The Rise, continues to captivate audiences with his powerful performance in this sequel.

The first part of the franchise, Pushpa: The Rise, delved into a gripping tale of power and red sandalwood smuggling, setting the stage for the sequel to expand the narrative. With its massive opening, Pushpa 2: The Rule has redefined box office records and solidified the franchise as a cultural phenomenon in Indian cinema.
