Peter Greene, known for his iconic roles in Hollywood movies like ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘The Mask’ has passed away at the age of 60. According to a New York Post report, the veteran actor was found dead inside his apartment in his New York City’ Lower East Side apartment in the late afternoon on December 12 (local time).

Green’s long-term manager, Gregg Edwards, confirmed the unfortunate news to the NYP. As per the report, Greene was found to be unresponsive inside his residence around 3:25 PM.’ He was pronounced dead at the scene. However, Peter Greene’s cause of death is yet to be identified.

Confirming the news with NYP, Edwards shared that Greene was, ‘Truly one of the great actors of our generation. His heart was as big as there was. I’m going to miss him. He was a great friend.’

He also revealed that music could be heard playing inside Greene’s apartment for over 24 hours. This triggered a wellness check and the authorities were alerted of this uncommon occurrence, as per the New York Daily News.

Who was Peter Greene?

Peter Greene, known for playing the most intense villains in Hollywood, rose to fame in 1990s. Known for his roles in cult-films like Jim Carrey’s ‘The Mask’ and Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Pulp Fiction’, Greene entered Hollywood in his mid-20s.

Born in 1965, Greene ran away from New Jersey at he age of 15, and lived on the streets of New York City. He even turned to drug use and eventually dealing, he had revealed to Premiere magazine in an old interaction in 1996. In the same year, he attempted suicide. Eventually he decided to seek treatment for addiction. However, in 2007, Greene was arrested for possession of drugs in 2007, as per the New York Daily News.

It was only in his mid-20s, when he trained at the Lee Strasberg studio before landing his first film deal. Best remembered for characters, Zed, crime boss Dorian Tyrell, schizophrenic Peter Winter (Clean, Shaven), and Redfoot (The Usual Suspects). In the early 2000s, Peter Greene went on to appear in Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, Blue Streak, Training Day, The Bounty Hunter, and the TV series The Black Donnellys and Justified.

As per reports, he was set to appear in The Usual Suspects, which was yet to start production, aiming for January. He was supposed to star alongside Mickey Rourke in an independent thriller titled ‘Mascots’. Furthermore, Greene also had an upcoming film titled ‘State of Confusion’, a crime-drama written and directed by EB Hughes. He is survived by his siblings, a brother and a sister.
