Param Sundari Box Office Collection Day 3: One of the most awaited rom-coms of the year, Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, hit theatres on Friday, August 29. The film, directed by Tushar Jalota, had a steady start and saw growth over its first weekend at the box office.
Param Sundari Box Office Collection Day 3
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Param Sundari collected Rs 7.25 crore on its opening day, making a decent start. The box office collection improved significantly on Saturday, when the film earned Rs 9.25 crore, a jump of over 27 per cent from the previous day. The upward trend continued on Sunday, as the film saw another 13 per cent growth, bringing in Rs 10.45 crore, marking its best single-day collection so far.
These weekend numbers brought Param Sundari’s total domestic box office collection to Rs 26.75 crore after its opening weekend. Looking ahead, trade experts note that while the numbers are good, the film will need strong weekday collections to maintain its momentum in the coming weeks.
Param Sundari occupancy report and regional response
On Sunday, the film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 20.71 per cent. The evening shows performed the best, with almost 30 per cent of theatre seats filled, while morning shows saw just around 10 percent. Night shows witnessed a slight dip, recording 18.39 per cent occupancy.
Delhi-NCR, where the film had the highest number of screenings at 1,228, recorded an average occupancy of 20 per cent. In Mumbai, with 878 shows, the occupancy was 19.50 per cent. Bengaluru stood out with strong numbers, clocking nearly 40 per cent occupancy across its 280 shows. However, Surat lagged behind with only 10 per cent turnout despite having 283 screenings. Cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, and Jaipur also saw good audience turnout for the film.
The story behind Param Sundari
Param Sundari is a film that revolves around Param (Sidharth Malhotra), a carefree Delhi boy from a wealthy family, who invests his father’s money in new-age startups. While trying out an AI-powered matchmaking app called ‘Soulmates,’ he gets paired with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a South Indian girl from Kerala who runs her ancestral homestay with her uncle.
The film shows the clash between Param’s modern, city-bred lifestyle and Sundari’s rooted, tradition-rich world. As their cultural differences create both humour and conflict, the two characters slowly discover common ground, questioning whether technology can truly lead to love.
Param Sundari vs Saiyaara
While Param Sundari was promoted as the biggest romantic entertainer of the year, it faced tough competition at the box office. Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has turned out to be a surprise blockbuster. The film has already emerged as the second-highest grosser of the year, pulling audiences away from Param Sundari.
Trade analysts are of the view that the star power of Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra has certainly helped the film open well, but its long-term success will depend on whether it can withstand the Saiyaara wave in the coming weeks.
