After multiple delays, filmmaker Tushar Jalota’s much-awaited romantic comedy Param Sundari is finally gearing up for a theatrical release this Friday, August 29. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the movie stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in a heartfelt tale of love that goes beyond cultural boundaries. As the movie is set to release tomorrow, we take a look at Param Sundari’s advance booking.

About Param Sundari

The film narrates the journey of Param, a Punjabi boy from North India, and Sundari, a woman of mixed Tamilian and Malayali heritage, as they navigate family expectations, identity, and personal aspirations. Backed by Maddock Films, a production house celebrated for delivering memorable romantic dramas like Love Aaj Kal (2009), Cocktail (2012), Luka Chuppi (2019), Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023), and this year’s Bhool Chuk Maaf, the studio has consistently pushed the boundaries in Hindi cinema. Maddock has also been behind two of Bollywood’s biggest recent successes, Stree 2 and Chhaava, which makes the expectations for Param Sundari notably high.

Param Sundari advance booking

Advance bookings for Param Sundari opened on August 26 and early trends look encouraging. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film sold nearly 10,000 tickets across online platforms such as BookMyShow and District apps within the first 24 hours.

Trade experts suggest that these figures are significant for a romantic comedy, which typically relies more on walk-in audiences, family footfalls, and positive word of mouth rather than massive pre-release sales. With strong pre-release buzz, the film is projected to earn around Rs 10 crore net on opening day, and it is expected to grow if audience reviews and social media responses remain positive.

Given the unexpected success of Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara earlier this year, which broke records as the highest-grossing debutant-led film, industry watchers are optimistic that Param Sundari could receive the same positive response.

Janhvi and Sidharth on working on Param Sundari

Speaking to ANI, lead actor Sidharth Malhotra shared his excitement about returning to romance. “With Param Sundari, I feel like I’m revisiting the kind of romance I grew up loving, but telling it in a way that feels fresh and relatable. Param has that Delhi boy charm, with a love story that makes you cross worlds. We wanted it to look as beautiful as it feels, and Kerala’s magic really made that happen. I hope the audience feels the same warmth and joy we felt while making it,” he said.

His co-star Janhvi Kapoor said, “Sundari is deeply personal to me. Her grace, quiet strength, and love for her roots resonate with my own South Indian heritage. Shooting in Kerala, surrounded by such beauty, I felt an emotional connection to her world that I hope the audience will feel too.”
