Did you know that Salman Khan did not always host the popular reality show Bigg Boss? There were other names in the list, too. Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan hosted the second and third seasons of the reality show that first aired in 2006 on Sony Entertainment Television. Many people may not immediately recall that Jolly LLB 3 star Arshad Warsi was the first-ever host of the controversial TV show.
Beginning his career as Mahesh Bhatt‘s assistant director, Warsi had worked on the film Kaash in 1987. He made his acting debut in an Amitabh Bachchan production, Tere Mere Sapne in 1996. However, he made it big with the iconic character of Circuit, the sidekick of Sanjay Dutt’s character, in the Munnabhai series. The film typecast him as a comedian, and more such movies were offered to him. Portraying many memorable comic roles, including that of Jolly in the Jolly LLB franchise, Arshad has been getting the love of audiences for his natural comic timing.
Arshad Warsi in Bigg Boss Season 1
Bringing his trademark comedy to the TV screen, Warsi debuted the now-19-season-long show, Bigg Boss, in Indian homes. He was a warm, humorous presenter, who helped ease the Indian audience into the quirky and candid format. He went on to win the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Anchor – Game/Quiz Show for hosting the premier season.
Bigg Boss Season 1 had over 85 episodes, where Rahul Roy emerged victorious after spending 86 days in the Bigg Boss house. Along with him were 14 other celebrities like Carol Gracias, Ravi Kishan, Rakhi Sawant, Amit Sadh, Roopali Ganguly, Baba Sehgal, Ragini Shetty, Deepak Tijori, Anupama Verma, Aryan Vaid, Kashmira Shah, Deepak Parashar, and Bobby Darling. Bringing Sawant’s candid drama to TV screens, this made her a regular on Bigg Boss as a wild-card entrant or a contestant.
Not complete without its controversies, a contestant was even summoned by the Bombay High Court in lieu of a breach of contract. Salil Ankola’s dramatic exit became a bone of contention among fans and contestants. Interestingly, Salman Khan made a guest appearance during the season; little did fans know, he came to stay.
Jolly LLB 3 release date
Releasing the third film in the franchise, both Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar returned to the big screen on September 19. A much-loved courtroom drama film, Jolly LLB 3’s trailer was released earlier today. Involved in a scandal off-screen, the film was under the scrutiny of several petitioners for disrespecting the judiciary. The dialogues reportedly called the judge “mamu,” with other objectionable portrayals of the court.
