Fresh off her award-winning drama Daily Dose of Sunshine‘s success, Park Bo Young embraced dual roles in tvN’s Our Unwritten Seoul in May. Her ongoing portrayal of twin sisters grappling with personal struggles has once again struck a chord with Hallyu enthusiasts, who can’t get enough of the South Korean actress’ adept ability to slip in and out of characters seamlessly.

Her chemistry with her Our Unwritten Seoul co-star Park Jinyoung, aka GOT7’s Jinyoung, inevitably went viral, with fans swooning over their characters like there’s no tomorrow. Amid the ongoing buzz around the sombre romance series, Park Bo Young is ready to set sail on a new K-drama journey next year.

On Tuesday (KST), Disney Plus Korea announced a brand-new series called “Gold Land” with Bo Young in the lead. In a dramatic saga shaped around greed and betrayal, the actress will take the charge as Hee Joo, a security screening officer at an international airport. Given her profession, the character is bound to unexpectedly come into contact with gold bars linked to an illegal smuggling ring. In light of the shocking development, Hee Joo will end up battling her own instincts, resulting in a transformation on personal levels.

As “Gold Land” was announced, the Strong Woman Do Bong Soon star expressed her excitement to try a new genre. “The process in which Hee Joo, who seemed uninterested in gold, changes as she becomes obsessed with human nature and desires will be portrayed in an interesting way,” she said, as per Soompi.

Gold Land K-drama cast

Although all the action is expected to revolve around Park’s character, the central cast includes several others. Kim Sung Cheol (Our Beloved Summer) is confirmed as yet another consequential addition to the series. As WooGi, he will take on the role of a member of a loan shark ring. As a complex character shrouded in suspense, he is bound to share unique chemistry with Hee Joo as well.

Lee Hyun Wook (Hell is Other People) will come in as co-pilot Lee Do Kyung to play Bo Young’s love interest. Meanwhile, Kim Hee Won (Hi-Five) will be in as Kim Jin Man, a veteran detective.

Park Bo Young will find Moon Jung Hee (The 8 Show) by her side as her mother, Yeon Sun Ok. Finally, Lee Kwang Soo (The Divorce Insurance) will play the role of Director Park, who heads a branch of the Gold Land hotel casino operation.
