Muzammil Ibrahim has revealed that he was in a two-year-long relationship with Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone when she had just moved to Mumbai and was beginning her modeling career. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil shared intimate details about their time together, recalling their modest beginnings and memorable dates.
“We were in a relationship for two years,” Muzammil said, adding that he was the first person Deepika met in Mumbai. According to him, it was Deepika who made the first move, though he eventually ended the relationship. “She was very confident even back then, being Prakash Padukone’s daughter. Everyone already knew about her,” he noted.
Reflecting on their early years, Muzammil painted a picture of youthful romance. “We were kids then. We used to go on rickshaw dates in the rain. It was very cute. I had started earning a bit more, bought a car, and she was very happy for me,” he said, adding that they were happy despite not having much money.
He also recalled a sweet gesture on Deepika’s birthday when he arranged for a DJ to play her favourite song on repeat for over an hour, despite not having the funds to pay for it. “The DJ played it because we were friends. Those were really special times,” he said.
Muzammil, who gained fame from modeling and music videos in the early 2000s, said that although they drifted apart after their breakup, they stayed cordial. “Before she got married [to Ranveer Singh in 2019], we would talk sometimes and congratulate each other on our achievements,” he added. However, he confirmed they are no longer in touch.
Despite being out of the spotlight compared to Deepika’s meteoric rise, Muzammil expressed admiration for her success. “She is a superstar now. Everyone knows her, nobody knows me. I’m a big fan. She’s a beautiful woman doing great things,” he said.
The revelation has sparked curiosity among fans, offering a rare glimpse into Deepika Padukone’s early personal life before her ascent to stardom.
