What attracted you to the roles in “Fairy Folk” and “Sunflower” respectively?
With “Sunflower,” I was drawn to the villainous character of Dr. Ahuja. He’s despicable, with a raging temper beneath outward graces, which was unlike any role I had played before. On the other hand, “Fairy Folk” presented the challenge of improvising an entire film, which excited me, especially as the character of Mohit was closer to me.
“Fairy Folk” and “Sunflower” are different genres. How did you adapt your acting approach between the two projects?
As an actor, I focus on being authentic to the character rather than adjusting my approach based on genres. However, subtle adjustments are sometimes necessary depending on the storytelling style of the project.
What was the most challenging aspect of portraying your characters in both “Fairy Folk” and “Sunflower”?
In “Fairy Folk,” the challenge lay in the improvisation process, maintaining the flow while adhering to a loose screenplay structure. Conversely, in “Sunflower,” it was challenging to authentically portray Dr. Ahuja’s sudden bursts of temper.
What drew you to pursue a career in acting, and how did you embark on your journey in the entertainment industry?
Acting has been a lifelong passion, initially pursued alongside my banking career in New York. However, upon returning to India, what began as a hobby soon evolved into a full-fledged career in theatre and eventually, on-screen acting.
As an actor, what challenges have you faced in the industry, and how have you overcome them?
The industry’s competitiveness poses constant challenges in securing roles that both challenge and excite me. Overcoming these challenges remains an ongoing process, as I continue to strive for better opportunities.
Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring actors based on your experiences in the industry?
While I hesitate to give advice, I would encourage aspiring actors not to shy away from seeking opportunities. Putting oneself out there is crucial in this industry.
What’s next for you?
Upcoming projects include the Amazon Prime series “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” an action-comedy film titled “Dhoom Dhaam,” and a romantic comedy film “Ishq Jhamela,” offering diverse roles and exciting challenges.
