Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra Box Office Collection Day 7: Completing its first week on Wednesday, the Kalyani Priyadarshini starrer has made huge waves at the big screen. Recovering from a slow opening day, the film boomed on its first weekend to collect Rs 17.7 crore in two days. Reining the Malayalam box office, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra grossed Rs 46 crore in its first week in theatres.

Surprisingly, the Internet was quick to point out the Rs 30 crore budget, humour, and freshness in the screenplay. Continuing its unstoppable run, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra became the third film in the industry to cross Rs 100 crore at the box office. As reviews are flooded with praises for the performances, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is also Malayali cinema’s first female superhero film.

As per the industry tracker, Sacnilk, the Lokah Chapter 1 did well on the weekdays too. Unlike Sidharth Malhotra and Janvhi Kapoor’s Param Sundari, this Malayali adventure thriller crossed Rs 7 crore on both Monday and Tuesday. Experiencing a slight decline, the film collected Rs 6.75 crore on its first Wednesday, Day 7.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra – Above average occupancy

Films like Param Sundari, targeting the Hindi box office, faced stiff competition from Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra in Malayalam-dominated regions. With a nearly 50% occupancy rate, the Priyadarshini movie fared well in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kozhikode, and Kochi, as more than 70% seats were filled.

Starring Naslen K. Gafoor, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Vijayaraghavan in key roles, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has been directed by Dominic Arun. Expected to beat its own records, the Onam Sadhya festivities are set to boost the film’s collections even further

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra – Reviews that don’t turn negative

With an overbearing box office performance, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’s social media reviews are all praises. “Retire every other cinematic universe because THIS is how you do it. Lokah Chapter 1 is an absolute banger that serves not just as a master class in world-building, but also confidence-building in storytellers who have told themselves ‘no, we can’t make this in India,” read a review on X (formerly Twitter).

“Watching Lokah Chapter 1 felt like sitting by a fire, listening to an age-old tale where folklore and fantasy are woven together. It doesn’t quite fit the usual superhero template of extraordinary powers battling evil to save the world,” said another user online.

Sparking huge debates online on religious stereotyping versus creative liberty, Lokah Chapter 1’s comments have been united on only one front. That is, positive reviews for the plot, storytelling, surprise celebrity cameos, and the background score, which audiences have claimed that one can listen to on loop.
