Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 8: Rishab Shetty has brought with him a blockbuster franchise. After a lifetime collection of more than Rs 400 crore for Kantara (2022), the prequel, Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1, has grossed that amount worldwide in less than a week.
After a stellar Rs 61.85 crore opening day, Kantara Chapter 1 did not look back. Collecting Rs 100 crore in two days alone, this Rishab Shetty film broke several records. It became the second-biggest name in the Kannada film industry. Kantara Chapter 1 also crossed the Rs 200 crore mark on its first weekend but broke all trends on the weekdays.
Collecting Rs 31.5 crore on its first Monday, the action-thriller saw a 50% decline in sales. But it managed to redeem itself on Tuesday, grossing Rs 25.25 crore. Finally, taking the overall box office collection to nearly Rs 335 crore, Kantara Chapter 1 made Rs 20.50 crore on Day 8, in India. The collective weekday sales crossed the Rs 80 crore mark.
Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Day 8: Is occupancy dipping?
The overall occupancy numbers for Kantara Chapter 1 in Kannada touched 45.69%, with night shows dominating the viewership. Trends dipped in Bengaluru after the first week, as the film managed to fill 42.75% seats across the 927 shows in the city.
On the other hand, it was extremely popular in Mysore, as the film achieved more than 70% occupancy rates, which speaks highly of its success. Also garnering huge praise from the Hindi audience, a major section of sales comes from Kantara 2 in Hindi. However, as occupancy slows down, Kantara’s record-breaking franchise might be losing momentum after week 1. But the upcoming festive weekend might turn the tables.
With a 14.63% occupancy in Hindi, Telugu outperformed the language on Day 8 of Kantara. There were 491 shows scheduled in Hyderabad, out of which 23.75% of seats were full. Both Tamil and Malayalam showed similar occupancy rates. But, Kantara Chapter 1 in Hindi, alone, grossed Rs 100 crore for the franchise, contributing to its blocbust4er genius.
Directed and performed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 also cast Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in key roles. The title song has also received a notable contribution from global sensation and Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
