Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 12: The Rishab Shetty period action-thriller has entered its second week and has seen a sudden dip on the weekdays. However, Kantara Chapter 1 has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark in twelve days and surpassed the Rs 500 crore milestone in worldwide box office numbers so far.
While the second weekend saw a massive jump, adding up to more than Rs 80 crore in net domestic collections, there was a steep decline on Monday. Despite the weekday slump, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has left all records behind, held by Indian films in 2025.
Kantara Chapter 1: Box office update
After opening with an impressive Rs 61.86 crore on day one, the Kantara prequel wasted no time crossing the Rs 100 crore mark within just two days. The film added another Rs 100 crore over its first weekend, though collections dipped by nearly 50% on the following Monday as weekday momentum slowed. Still, with Rs 80 crore earned across the weekdays, Kantara Chapter 1 entered its second week strongly, coinciding with the Diwali festivities.
By the end of its first week, the film had amassed Rs 337 crore, buoyed by a 75% surge in collections on Sunday (Day 11). According to early industry estimates, Rishab Shetty’s action-thriller continued its strong run into the next weekend and earned Rs 13.5 crore on its second Monday.
After a successful 12 days in theatres, it still stands second to Vicky Kaushal‘s Chhaava, which set the box office records through the charts. The historical period drama achieved Rs 600 crore in India alone. Directed by Laxman Utekar, this blockbuster immortalises the life of Sambhaji Maharaj and stars Akshaye Khanna as the antagonist.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office day 12: The women of Kantara
Kantara Chapter 1 not only has a strong visual power, but also feminine leads that gives Rishab Shetty’s cinematic universe its divine strength. Written and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the film has redefined the gender narrative from its previous film in the series, Kantara (2022). While it made women quite the target of questionable jokes and other problematic gestures, Kantara Chapter 1 tries to break that.
Almost like an evolution of thought, Kantara Chapter 1 draws strength, happiness, and even conflict from women. The protagonist’s greatest strength lies in his mother, who serves not only as his guide but also as a protector, moral compass, and emotional anchor. Instead of acting out on revenge, Shetty draws strength from her values, wisdom, and teachings. At the same time, (spoiler alert) a female becomes his greatest enemy too.
Shetty completely reverses the traditional gender narrative, his female characters are intelligent, spiritual, powerful, and deeply layered. They’re no longer sidelined as supporting figures; they are the driving force of the story itself.
