Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office collection Day 11: Kantara Chapter 1 has made huge waves at the box office after its record-breaking collections. The Rishab Shetty film has collected over Rs 300 crore in its first week and has surpassed the Rs 500 crore milestone in worldwide box office numbers so far. The second weekend saw a massive jump, adding up to Rs 100 crore, leaving behind all records held by Indian films in 2025.
The mythological action-thriller has received praise across all languages and from several industry icons. While Kantara Chapter 1 in Kannada is the highest-performing language, the Rishab Shetty directorial has received a significant audience from Hindi. With the total domestic gross reaching Rs 437.65 crore, Sacnilk confirmed that Kantara Chapter 1 has regained its momentum over its second weekend.
After a Rs 61.86 crore opening day, the Kantara prequel was quick to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in just two days. Grossing another Rs 100 crore on its first weekend, weekdays slowed down the progress by nearly 50% on its first Monday. After collecting Rs 80 crore on weekdays, combined, Kantara Chapter 1 is on its way to face its first Monday, as Diwali festivities begin. Finally, the Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection week 1 crossed Rs 337 crore, recording a 75% jump on Sunday, Day 11. According to early estimates from the industry tracker, Rishab Shetty’s action-thriller grossed nearly Rs 40 crore on its second Sunday.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office day 11: Still struggling to turn a profit?
The Rishab Shetty blockbuster has seamlessly left behind several high-performers like Chhaava, Saiyaara, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, L2: Empuraan, and Mahavatar Narsimha. Despite crossing the Rs 600 crore mark globally, several reports claim that Kantara Chapter 1 might not have turned profitable yet. They claim that the Hombale Films production will only be profitable after crossing Rs 900 crore worldwide, before it becomes another ‘Coolie’, the 2025 Rajinikanth blockbuster.
As per industry claims, Kantara Chapter 1 was made on a budget of around Rs 125 crore, but the marketing campaign added another Rs 150 crore. Showing great box office potential, the majority of the cost was recovered from distribution rights, including the budget-equivalent deal with Amazon Prime. In fact, the non-theatrical rights of the film fetched the makers over Rs 200 crore. Thus, it may have been a profitable deal for the production house, but a massive box office run is still essential for the distributors to justify the cost.
