Bollywood maestro Pankaj Tripathi’s royal makeover has the Internet shocked and wanting more. Calling it a “new beginning”, the Mirzapur star shared his new look on social media and left the fans buzzing. Pairing brocade, net, and velvet, this look combined vintage charm and haute couture, perfectly embodying Tripathi’s essence in Bollywood.

Known for his raw and authentic acting, he has played several roles that rarely require him to step out of his comfort zone. From Criminal Justice’s protagonist to Stree’s wise owl, Tripathi has always wooed fans with his natural flair to become one with his character. But this fashion look was perhaps the last thing the Internet saw coming from him in 2025. However, Ranveer Singh‘s comments had netizens reliving the irony.

‘Hum sudhar gaye, aur aap bigad gaye?’

Commenting under Tripathi’s post on social media, Singh wrote, “Arre! yeh kya, Guruji ?!Hum sudhar gaye, aur aap bigad gaye? [Oh! What’s this guruji? I improved and you got spoilt.]”

Known to have a tendency to dress with quirk, Ranveer Singh, for the longest time in Bollywood, stood out for his bizarre fashion sense. From flashy colours to flaunting logos, the young star did it all. However, he has now embodied a much more sophisticated and muted fashion sense, sending his fans into a state of awe.

However, Pankaj Tripathi’s new and shocking look featured a long velvet coat, paired with a sheer black shirt, and an iconic brocade dhoti. The coat, almost making him look like a royal, gave him a sharp silhouette. Featuring embroidery in golden thread, it gave a festive spin to his look. Worn over a sheer black shirt, this modern piece set apart the peculiar pairing. Blending his dhoti-core acting with the royal red brocade, his harem pants did all the talking for the look. Accessorised with the perfect pair of juttis, he topped the look with a checkered flat cap – oozing sophistication. The British-inspired cap broke the otherwise over-the-top look and gave it a playful edge to his ensemble.

How did the Internet react?

Calling him the “Indian version of Peaky Blinders“, Tisca Chopra might really be on to something. While he was showered with praises from his fraternity, multiple netizens couldn’t help but wonder if it was AI, given his oddly young appearance. “This is the beginning of something interesting. How’s the “vibe”?” read the caption of Tripathi’s post.
