Kapil Sharma has been a household name in Indian television since 2013, bringing laughter to every Indian household through his comedy shows. Over the years, countless fans have attended the live recordings at Mumbai’s Film City. Now, fresh details have emerged about how audiences get a chance to be part of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, without spending a rupee.
How to attend Kapil Sharma’s comedy show
In a recent conversation on YTMahendra Podcast’s YouTube channel, actor and mimicry artist Vikalp Mehta, who has featured in a few episodes, revealed how the live audience system works. According to him, entry is free. “I am not a hundred per cent sure, but as far as I know, no money is charged to be on the show,” he clarified during the interview.
Mehta explained that while the tickets come without cost, being in the audience requires patience and commitment. “For instance, the shoot starts at 10 am, and it will go on till 8 pm or perhaps till 11 pm, so they need the same faces in the audience who can be professional and sit in the same place for these many hours and clap with just as much enthusiasm. They need audiences that will take instructions from them. They pay that audience and fill up the room. It’s the same with most TV shows. They are provided with food and water,” he said.
He further pointed out that not all attendees are paid performers. Some are aspiring artists who gain exposure through such opportunities, while others are invited by the makers as guests. Addressing the rumours of a ticketing scam, Mehta clarified, “Voh scam hai, vaisa koi hai hi nahi system (That is deception. That system does not exist).”
About The Great Indian Kapil Show
Currently, Sharma’s The Great Indian Kapil Show is streaming on Netflix. Alongside the host, the show features popular comedians including Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and Sunil Grover. Familiar faces such as Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu also appear as recurring guests, adding to the entertainment quotient.
Meanwhile, the show recently drew political attention when the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) issued a warning to the comedian. The party cautioned Sharma against using the words ‘Bombay’ or ‘Bambai’ in place of ‘Mumbai’ during the episodes. The MNS insisted that the official name of the city be maintained on the platform and threatened agitation if the directive was ignored.
Despite the controversy, the Netflix comedy continues to draw high viewership and remains a major crowd puller for fans eager to witness Kapil Sharma’s trademark humour live on set.
