Haseena Parkar movie review: The underworld which held Mumbai in its shackles for quite a long time has been the theme for a number of Bollywood flicks in the past. Keeping up with the tradition comes Apurva Lakhia’s Haseena Parkar which dares to be path-breaking in many respects since it does not revolve around the story of the conventional underworld gangster. It cannot be said that the characters which Lakhia portrays are totally effortless delivering the required, still, they put up a fair job on screen. There is no denying the fact that when the trailer of Haseena Parkar released, Shraddha Kapoor’s gritty avatar gathered resounding applause from all quarters. Shraddha as Haseena Parkar owns the screen and what she delivers is commendable.

The film pans through Haseena’s life as an innocent adolescent to a notorious crime lord better known as ‘Appa’. The script looks well researched and hence avoids the pitfalls. What may disappoint the audience is the screenplay which fails to create the required impact. For the first time, real-life siblings Shraddha and Siddhanth Kapoor star in the movie together essaying reel life brother and sister roles as well. This makes for an interesting watch as an aside. While Shraddha carries the movie on her shoulders, Siddhanth Kapoor as Mumbai serial blast accused Dawood Ibrahim is hardly seen in action. He is seen aimlessly moving about hardly creating any impact. Considering that it is Dawood they are talking about, surely the clips should have been more powerful.
The movie will disappoint those who are willing to see an intense affair on screen because Lakhia fails to bring the story alive for his audience to make it a memorable experience. Despite this, Haseena Parkar makes for a good one time watch only for Shraddha.
