Harry Potter is returning to the screens in a brand new avatar – as a TV series. But you already know that. Dominic McLaughlin will play the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley. You already know that too. But have you seen the first look of the new series? On Monday, makers unveiled the first look of the new generation Harry Potter who will star in the TV series. Harry Potter series first look

In the first loo, we see McLaughlin in the Hogwarts uniform, Gryffindor stitched to it. The child actor is also seen donning the famous round glasses. In the picture, he is also holding a clapperboard, which means the filming has begun.

Along with the picture, the makers added the caption, “First-years, step forward. The HBO Original Harry Potter series is now in production.”

All about Harry Potter TV series

Apart from the trio, the series will also star John Lithgow, Papa Esidou, Janet McTeer, and Nick Frost. Several new names are also joining the cast, including Rory Willmott, Amos Kitson, Louise Brealey and Anton Lesse.

Several reports also suggest that all the seven books of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling will be remade for the series – one season for each book. As filming has begun, it is expected to be wrapped up by the end of Spring 2026. The series will release in 2027 on Max (formerly HBO Max).

J.K. Rowling, who is the executive producer of the show, wrote on social media, “I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO ‘Harry Potter’ series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!”
