According to reports by industry tracker Sacnilk, Haq collected Rs 3.75 crore on Day 3 (Sunday), bringing its total domestic box office collection to Rs 8.85 crore.The film registered a Hindi occupancy rate of 23.60 per cent on Sunday, with evening shows recording the highest turnout at 35.98 per cent. The afternoon and night shows maintained a steady audience with 24.56 per cent and 24.30 per cent occupancy, while the morning shows saw a modest 9.54 per cent turnout.The film opened to Rs 1.75 crore on Day 1 (Friday) and jumped to Rs 3.35 crore on Day 2 (Saturday).
Given the positive weekend trend, Haq is expected to soon cross the Rs 10 crore mark in India and may leave Paresh Rawal-starrer The Taj Story behind. Trade experts note that despite competing releases, the film has found its audience, due to strong performances and relevant social message.Inspired by the historic Shah Bano Case.
Haq’s storyline is inspired from one of India’s most talked-about legal cases, the Mohd.Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum case of 1985. The real-life Supreme Court judgment upheld a Muslim woman’s right to maintenance under Indian law, sparking nationwide debates on religion, gender equality, and secularism.
The movie is inspired by journalist Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat Ki Beti.

In Haq, Yami Gautam plays Shazia Bano, a woman who fights for justice after her husband leaves her. Her strong and emotional performance has been praised by the audience. Shah Bano Begum was a 62-year-old Muslim woman who went to court in 1978 asking for financial support from her ex-husband, a rich lawyer. Her fight for herself led to a Supreme Court verdict in 1985 that gave her the right to maintenance.
