January 2026 Bollywood releases: The New Year 2026 starts with the release of Dharmendra’s last movie, Ikkis, on the big screen. Based on the valiant sacrifice of war hero Major Arun Khetarpal, Ikkis is headlined by Agastya Nanda. Marking his debut Bollywood appearance, he last appeared in the Netflix movie Archies in 2023. Followed by Ikkis, which released today, Sunny Deol’s Border 2 is another much-awaited war-drama sequel.
Ikkis not only celebrates several debut roles, but also marks the last on-screen performance of late Bollywood veteran actor Dharmendra. Scheduled for a Christmas 2025 release, Ikkis was then postponed amid the Dhurandhar fever. However, several film critics shared that the decision came as a move to avoid clashing with Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Panday starrer, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. At the same time, Border 2, the Anurag Singh directorial, is the second part to JP Dutta’s 1997 Border and set to make its theatrical debut on January 23.
