Dude vs Bison Box Office Collection: The Tamil film industry has cashed in on the Diwali 2025 festivities and rolled out several releases. From Pradeep Ranganathan’s ‘Dude’ to Dhruv Vikram’s Bison Kaalamaadan, the fans are in for a cinematic treat. But the verdict is in, and it is evident who is ruling the box office collections this Diwali. With both films releasing yesterday, October 17, they gave a stiff competition to each other, but only one emerged victorious. Here’s a look at the opening day collections of Dude and Bison.

Dude is a breezy romantic drama and the debut directorial effort of Keerthiswaran. On the other hand, Bison Kaalamaadan is an intense sports film, exploring the social commentary around caste discrimination and more. With a stellar star cast, these films are set to become big winners for regional cinema.

Dude Box Office Collection Day 1

Featuring Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamitha Baiju, R. Sarathkumar, Rohini, and Hridhu Haroon in key roles, Dude has collected Rs 10 crore on its opening day, reported Sacnilk. While the occupancy rates of Dude in Tamil on its opening Friday managed to cross 48%, night shows remained popular. The day zero collections amounted to more than Rs 3 crore.

Across the 1,490 shows scheduled in India, Dude remained popular in Chennai. With a 61.5% occupancy rate across the 604 shows in Chennai, Pondicherry, and Trichy also supported the film in big numbers. However, Bengaluru, with 242 shows in the city, did not manage to cross the 40% mark. Coimbatore showed a promising upward trend with nearly 50% filled theatres.

The film’s Gen Z energy and the on-screen chemistry between Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju have earned widespread praise. Though the story might have its flaws, viewers have highlighted several standout moments, especially the much-talked-about ‘interval twist’ that’s winning over netizens.

Bison Kaalamaadan Box Office Collection Day 1

The Dhruv Vikram sports-drama movie, Bison Kaalamaadan, had a rather slow start as it managed to gross only Rs 2.5 crore on its opening day. The underwhelming response was also seen in its occupancy rates, which merely crossed the 30% mark.

Overall, while the win seems clear, Bison Kaalamaadan had nearly the same number of shows scheduled in India. Across the 343 shows in Chennai, Dhruv Vikram’s Bison had a significantly lower occupancy rate than Dude. Similarly, in Coimbatore and Bengaluru, while the screenings were over 100, the occupancy rates failed to make an impact.
