Bollywood‘s legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 after prolonged respiratory issues, has expressed love for his pind in a heartfelt poem featured in his upcoming film Ikkis. The makers of the film have released the clip of the veteran actor reciting the lines, which has struck a chord with the netizens.

The actor, who would have celebrated his 90th birthday on December 8, came from a small village in Ludhiana, Punjab. He remained deeply attached to his roots throughout his life. In his last poem penned for his upcoming film Ikkis, the actor expresses his deep longing to return to his hometown.

As per a Hindustan Times report, the actor was known for his late-night visits at his century-old home in Dangon, Ludhiana, which were often quiet, and unannounced.

In the poem “Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa,” the actor revisits his childhood memories be it bond with his mother, bathing in the pond, to playing kabaddi with friends. The heartwarming lines have triggered emotional reactions among netizens.

“Dharam Ji was a true son of the soil, and his words carry the essence of that soil. ❤️ This poem by him is a yearning; a tribute from one legend to another. Soon after the clip was released, netizens expressed their grief and admiration and called it a beautiful yet heart-wrenching farewell to the legend.
