Squashing reports that veteran actor Dharmendra is critical or on a ventilator, close family sources have confirmed to The Indian Express that he’s doing fine and is under observation in the hospital.
Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai last week for a medical check-up, according to reports.
“The whole ventilator news is fake. Dharmendra has been hospitalised for a week, but he is not on a ventilator. Sunny Deol visited Dharmendra in the morning at the hospital, and he is back now. If something like this would have happened, his entire family would have been in the hospital,” the source told the Indian Express.
What Hema Malini said about Dharmendra’s health
According to an HT report, earlier this month, Hema Malini, the actor’s wife, responded to reporters who asked – “Sir kaise hain (how is sir),” by gesturing ‘okay’, which reassured everyone.
The actor’s team had earlier clarified about his well-being when he was admitted to the hospital on October 31, saying it was for a routine check-up. The actor continues to be hospitalised since then.
“There is absolutely no cause for concern. The actor is in good health and visits the hospital often for routine medical tests, which is the reason for his current stay. It seems that someone spotted him there, which has led to a frenzy among his fans, but there is nothing to worry about as he is absolutely fine,” his team had earlier said.
‘Dharmendra’s own decision to stay hospitalised’
An insider told Mid Day that Dharmendra prefers to stay at the hospital to get all the tests done at one go instead of travelling back and forth every day.
“Dharmendra undergoes multiple routine tests that usually take around two to three days to complete. Given that he is 89, daily travel can be tiring at this age. Hence, he himself chose to stay at the hospital and finish all the tests at once instead of commuting back and forth each day,” sources told the Mumbai-based publication.
Earlier, the reports also said the actor complained of breathlessness prior to his hospitalisation.
Next up, Dharmendra will be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, where he will star alongside Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia.
