De De Pyaar De 2 Day 3 Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh’s De De Pyaar De 2, which hit theatres on November 14 has shown steady growth through its opening weekend. The romantic comedy, a sequel to the 2019 hit De De Pyaar De, released with decent expectations and has managed to pick up momentum with each passing day at the box office.

The first part had performed strongly at the box office, so the sequel was always expected to draw attention. And while the opening day wasn’t extraordinary, positive word-of-mouth helped bring audiences to theatres over the weekend.

De De Pyaar De 2 Day 3 Box Office Collection: Film crosses Rs 50 crore worldwide

Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer De De Pyaar De 2 crossed the Rs 50-crore gross milestone at the global box office at the end of its first weekend in theatres, the makers announced on Monday.

On Sunday, the film witnessed its best day yet. De De Pyaar De 2 earned Rs 13.75 crore on Day 3, marking a slight but steady jump from Saturday’s Rs 12.25 crore. Saturday itself had shown impressive growth, up nearly 40 per cent from the opening day figure of Rs 8.75 crore.

With this, the film’s total opening weekend collection in India now stands at Rs 34.75 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. This steady progress indicates that family audiences are showing up in good numbers, especially over the weekend.

De De Pyaar De 2 ahead of Ajay Devgn’s recent release

Interestingly, this opening weekend number is significantly higher than Devgn’s recent film Son of Sardaar 2, which released just a couple of months ago. That film managed Rs 24.75 crore over its first weekend and wrapped up its domestic run with Rs 46.82 crore, affected by the surprise success of Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara.

De De Pyaar De 2 is clearly performing better in comparison, though it still has some way to go to match the lifetime numbers of the first part.

De De Pyaar De 2 behind the original film’s opening weekend

While the sequel has started on a solid note, it is trailing behind the 2019 original, which earned Rs 39 crore in its opening weekend, including paid previews. The first film, directed by Akiv Ali, was a major success and crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, ending its run at Rs 104.13 crore.

Whether the sequel manages to match or surpass that benchmark will depend on its weekday performance and overall audience reception.

De De Pyaar De 2: Story, cast and more

De De Pyaar De 2 takes forward the story of Ashish (Ajay Devgn) and Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). The sequel begins exactly where the first film ended, Ashish deciding to take the next step in their relationship.

In the new film, Ashish travels to meet Ayesha’s parents to seek their approval for marriage. While her parents are already nervous about the big age gap, they are shocked to find out that Ashish is actually the same age as Ayesha’s father. The situation becomes even more complicated when a young man, closer to Ayesha’s age, enters the picture, someone her parents once preferred for her, hoping she would move on from Ashish.

Directed by Anshul Sharma, the film has a strong cast including R. Madhavan, Gautami Kapoor, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Meezaan Jafri.

Rakul Preet Singh was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi, while Ajay Devgn has had a busy year with multiple releases, Raid 2, Son of Sardaar 2, and Azaad. He also produced the film Maa.

As the weekdays begin, all eyes are now on whether De De Pyaar De 2 can maintain its pace and inch closer to the success of the original film.
