De De Pyaar De 2 collection day 1: Ajay Devgn is back on the big screen and not as a cop this time. Starring the romantic-comedy revival of the De De Pyaar De franchise, this sequel brings double the laughs and double the drama. De De Pyaar De 2 also ranked among Ajay Devgn’s biggest openers, giving the push it needed to break records over the weekend.

Starring Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan, the De De Pyaar De franchise has a huge fan following. The sequel picks up six years after the original movie paused, as Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) is set to marry her significantly older partner, Ashish (Ajay Devgn). As the couple is caught in the crosshairs of conservative parents and societal expectations, a drama unfurls.

De De Pyaar De 2 collection day 1: Box office update

De De Pyaar De 2 opened with Rs 8.5 crore across all shows in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. While the collection remained in the single-digit zone, it is still higher than Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s Haq. The courtroom drama, released on November 7, grossed just more than Rs 1 crore on its opening day. Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 is set to give stiff competition to last week’s release.

Despite a healthy collection day, the Friday occupancy rates remained below 20%. Overall, De De Pyaar De 2 managed to fill 14.05% seats while night shows dominated. This romantic comedy had over 5000 shows scheduled across India, but occupancy was slow across halls. With over 1300 screenings in Delhi NCR alone, the film filled 14.5% seats, while Mumbai filled 16% across 906 shows. Chandigarh and Surat had over 400 shows in their cities, and remained below the 10% mark.

Ajay Devgn: Biggest openers

The official cop-face of Bollywood, Ajay Devgn’s highest-grossing film, remains Tanhaji. However, his biggest opener was Singham Returns in 2014. The Rohit Shetty film had an opening day of over Rs 31 crore, which neared Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, Bollywood’s biggest film of 2025.

Next on the list is Golmaal Again (2014), which was neck-and-neck with Singham Return, grossing Rs 30 crore on day 1. 2019’s Total Dhamaal came next with a Rs 15.9 crore opening day collection, while Tanhaji grossed Rs 13 crore.
