Since its theatrical release on August 14, this action-drama entered the Rs 500 crore club worldwide, making big waves at the Indian box office too. Now, Rajinikanth’s Coolie is set to debut its OTT release this month, awaiting large audiences, even after a record-breaking opening day.

Coming to OTT less than a month after its release, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie beat Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 by a huge margin, silencing all critics. Despite its slow performance during its third week, Coolie’s fans could not get enough of the film’s action sequences, thriller scenes, and Rajinikanth’s stardom. Coolie OTT release: When and where to watch

Announced on Amazon Prime Video‘s official social media handles, Rajinikanth’s Coolie will make its OTT debut on the platform on September 11. The post read, “Get ready to vibe with the saga of Deva, Simon, and Dahaa,” accompanying the film poster showing Rajinikanth in his Coolie character, Deva. Coolie’s OTT release, however, will be limited to Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu.

With vast reactions from the internet, fans were eager to know when the film would be released in Hindi. “Good news now OTT audience has a chance to see Rajinikanth’s swag in Coolie,” wrote a user under the post. However, they did remain surprised as to why the hasty decision was made to make the movie accessible online.

“Bro, I thought there was an 8-week agreement before OTT release, and that’s why multiplexes across India released it in Hindi too,” wrote another netizen.

It has just been 22 days since Coolie was released in theatres. After making a Rs 65 crore opening day, the film’s net collection dropped over time. From an overall Rs 229 crore week 1 collection, Coolie’s box office collection dipped by more than Rs 180 crores to collect nearly Rs 42 crore after its second weekend.

Earlier this week, Coolie managed to cross only Rs 1 crore a day after seeing a 66% decline in collections overall. In theatres, the film is set to experience further decline after its OTT release.

The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruthi Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan in key roles too.
