Initially slated to premiere on Netflix on November 28, Amaran will now debut on the platform on December 5, 2024. The producers decided to postpone the digital release to capitalize on the movie’s ongoing theatrical success. Unlike most Tamil films, which usually make their OTT transition within 28 days of release, Amaran has extended its theatrical run due to overwhelming audience response.

The film narrates the story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a celebrated military hero. It is based on the book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
