Akshay Kumar’s ensemble comedy Housefull 5 continues its successful box office journey, now becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. The film has officially left behind multiple big-budget releases, including Raid 2, L2: Empuraan, and Sankranthiki Vasthunam, with a remarkable worldwide gross of Rs 300 crore in just 25 days since its release on June 6.

As per the film’s producers, the domestic net earnings have touched Rs 200 crore, while global collections crossed Rs 300 crore.

The film had already moved ahead of Raid 2, featuring Ajay Devgn, to claim the second spot. With this latest milestone, it is now just behind the chart-topping Chhaava.

Leading the 2025 box office is Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna. The historical epic boasts a mammoth global gross of Rs 807.88 crore and an impressive Rs 601.54 crore net collection in India. Despite Housefull 5’s steady climb, Chhaava remains far ahead in terms of both scale and earnings.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 continues the franchise’s legacy of ensemble-led chaotic comedy.

In Housefull 5, the story centres around the mysterious death of a billionaire, played by Ranjeet, who is murdered shortly after revealing his plan to bequeath his entire estate to a man named Jolly. The twist? Three different Jollys, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, are aboard, making each of them a suspect in the crime.

Another factor that contributed to the massive success of Housefull 5 is that it had two alternate endings – 5A and 5B.

The fifth instalment in the hit Housefull series stars industry veterans and fan favourites. Alongside Kumar, Deshmukh, and Bachchan, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Johnny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Sonam Bajwa.

With its current momentum, Housefull 5 is expected to maintain a steady run in cinemas, especially with little to no competition in the comedy genre.
