Akhanda 2: Thaandavam X reviews – Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Telugu fantasy action-drama released today on the big screens. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the Akhanda 2 follows a delayed release, which was originally scheduled for December 5. Starring Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, Jagapathi Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh and Saswata Chatterjee in pivotal roles, Akhanda 2 has received a series of mixed reviews.

While fans predicted the unfortunate fall, there is great buzz around the film’s release, as the film sells out 19,000 tickets in an hour. Reports suggest that the delay was triggered by a Rs 28 crore dispute with Eros International, under an arbitral award related to earlier films such as Aagadu and 1: Nenokkadine. Thus, the Madras High Court granted an injunction preventing the film’s release in any form.

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam X reviews – ‘Cringe movie of the year’

While mixed reviews dominate social media platforms for Akhanda 2 reviews, several are largely ‘disastrous’. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), a user wrote, “Akhanda-2 is the cringe movie of the year. They’re mentioning it as a movie related to Sanatana…but having an item song in it.” As the Balakrishna sequel struggles to gather an audience, the lukewarm responses put Akhanda 2 in troubled waters.

Featuring Boyapati’s signature action sequences, several fans think only the background score saves Akhanda 2. Cinephiles on X troll the Balakrishna film and write, “Akhanda 2 is a 3-hour TORTURE! Brain-dead writing, cringe dialogues, and Balayya’s OTT roaring. Directionless screenplay, cheap VFX, and ZERO logic. Thaman’s BGM is the only “relief”. TOTAL DISASTER! Save money & sanity!”

As per Sacnilk, hours after the release, Akhanda 2 has grossed nearly Rs 2 crore as fans even call it a ‘satisfying theatrical appearance’ on social media. On the other hand, some netizens also question the mismatched 9.2 BookMyShow rating with brimming negative reviews online. “Akhanda 2 Thaandavam begins well but falters immediately, only to recover around interval. A couple of blocks in the second half are fine, but they aren’t enough to lift the entire narrative,” read another review.

Local media and Telugu film discussion pages even term it as a blockbuster, while several fans disagree. Some have even called it an “unnecessary sequel…which could have been made better,” as other netizens call it “slow and not very exciting.”
