Thulluvadho Ilamai actor Abhinay Kinger dies at 44: Tamil actor Abhinay Kinger, best remembered for his role in the 2002 film Thulluvadho Ilamai, passed away on Monday, November 10. He was 44. The actor had been battling a serious liver-related illness for several years.
Abhinay made his screen debut along with actor Dhanush in Thulluvadho Ilamai, with both starting their careers in the film industry together. According to Mathrubhumi, Abhinay had been undergoing medical treatment for liver complications for a long time. His health had worsened in recent months, despite getting medical treatment.
‘I don’t know if I will be around for longer’
The actor had been open about his illness, revealing in a heartfelt video that doctors had warned him he had limited time left. In the video, which was widely shared, Abhinay had said, “I don’t know if I will be around for longer,” expressing gratitude to those supporting him.
In his final months, he had appealed for financial help to continue his treatment. His Thulluvadho Ilamai co-star Dhanush reportedly donated Rs 5 lakh towards his medical expenses, while comedian KPY Bala contributed Rs 1 lakh. However, despite all efforts, Abhinay passed away at his residence in Chennai. His body is currently kept at his home for last respects.
Abhinay’s journey in Tamil cinema
Abhinay made his acting debut in 2002 with Thulluvadho Ilamai, directed by Kasthuri Raja. The film, which also starred Dhanush and Sherin, was a huge hit and with Abhinay’s performance as one of the leads in the film earned him praise and helped him make his place in the Tamil film industry.
Following his debut success, Abhinay was seen in several films including Jjunction, Singara Chennai, and Pon Megalai, where he played lead roles. But later, the actor switched to supporting roles due to his illness.
Abhinay moved to supporting roles
In the later part of his career, Abhinay moved to supporting roles in films such as Solla Solla Inikkum and Palaivana Solai. Abhinay’s performances showed that he was not confined to one sort of role. Instead he played many roles and was more than ready to experiment. Beyond acting, he also contributed to the industry as a voice artist, and has dubbed for Bollywood actor Vidyut Jamwal in the hit Tamil films Thuppakki and Anjaan.
