With just one month left before the red carpet rolls out for the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, the final nominees list celebrating South Korean cinematic excellence is out! The full roster includes familiar veteran talents, including Lee Byung Hun for the Park Chan Wook directorial No Other Choice, and certain new entries to the film world.
Having released in Korean theatres in September, the dark comedy is already making a big name for itself owing to its picture-perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. Consequently, it has also bagged a Best Picture nod on this year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards nominations table.
Contrary to Lee Byung Hun reigning supreme in the Best Actor category alongside other top contenders Park Jung Min, Sul Kyung Gum Jo Jung Suk and Hyun Bin, actor-singer Park Jinyoung has emerged as a ‘Best New Actor’ nominee despite his prior iconic K-drama streak. Other big-shot icons from the Korean drama industry making their name on the film side this year are Hong Ye Ji, Ahn Bo Hyun, Ahn Hyo Seop, Jung Sung Il and several others.
Meanwhile, The Glory lead Song Hye Kyo has earned resounding acclaim for her performance in Dark Nuns, thereby securing a Best Actress nod. Others vying for the same title are Son Ye Jin, Lee Jae In, Lee Hye Young and Lim Yoona.
