Candidates who have successfully completed two-year teachers training programme and have secured at least 50 per cent in their Higher Secondary Examinations are only eligible for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in state-aided primary schools of West Bengal, according to The Indian Express. According to reports, the notification for the examination is expected to be released today, but it was not released on the official website till the report was filed. WB TET 2018 will be conducted for about 30,000 posts in the state.
Education minister Partha Chatterjee has said, “I have urged the Primary Education Board to issue a notification after the Board office opens on October 9 stipulating the two conditions as per the guidelines mentioned by the Department of School Education, Government of West Bengal.”
“The eligibility criteria for TET candidates will be securing at least 50% marks in HS examination and completing the two-year teachers’ training programme,” Chatterjee said after meeting state Primary Education Board President Anik Bhattacharya, as per PTI report.
WBTET is conducted by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission. From this academic year onwards WB TET will be conducted as per National Council for Teachers’ Education (NCTE) guidelines. WB TET comprises of 150 multiple choice questions which candidates need to attempt in 90 minutes duration. WBTET comprises of two papers. Paper-I is to be given by candidates who want to teach Classes I-V and Paper II is for upper primary teachers, as per shiksha.com.
