UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024: The official notification for the UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2024 is set to be released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on February 14 on its official website, upsc.gov.in. 

Upon the publication of the official notification, the registration procedure for the UPSC CSE 2024 Exam will be initiated. Prospective candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can complete the application process for the IAS exam on the official UPSC website. The deadline for submitting applications for the UPSC exam 2024 is March 5, 2024.

According to the official UPSC Exam Schedule 2024, the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination (UPSC Prelims) is slated to take place on May 26, 2024, The Indian Express reported. Candidates who pass the Civil Services Preliminary examination will proceed to the UPSC CSE Main 2024 examination, scheduled to commence from September 20.

UPSC Exam 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates looking to apply for the UPSC Exam 2024 must fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

Nationality

To qualify for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), candidates must hold Indian citizenship.

For other examinations, candidates must satisfy the subsequent eligibility criteria.

For IAS (Indian Administrative Service), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), a candidate must be a citizen of India.

For other exams, candidates are required to fulfil the following eligibility criteria.

A candidate must be either – a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or  Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: Candidates belonging to the second, third and fourth categories are mandated to obtain a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India to participate in the UPSC CSE Exam 2024.

Age Limit

The age requirements for applying to the UPSC Exam 2024 stipulate a minimum age of 21 years and a maximum age of 32 years. Reserved category candidates are eligible for age relaxations.

General- 21 and 32

OBC- 21 and 35

EWS- 21 and 32

SC/ST- 21 and 37

Disabled Defence Services Personnel- 21 and 35

Ex-Servicemen- 21 and 37

Persons with Benchmark Disability – EWS (Economically Weaker Section) – 21 and 42

Educational Qualification

In order to appear for the UPSC 2024 examination, a candidate must have completed graduation to an equivalent degree from a recognised university. Those in their final year or awaiting results may also take the UPSC preliminary examination, provided they submit proof of passing the specified examination along with their application for the IAS mains paper.

UPSC Notification 2024: How to Apply?

Eligible candidates can follow the following steps to apply for the UPSC CSE examination 2024.

  • Visit upsconline.nic.in. 
  • Register at One time Registration Platform (OTR)
  • Click on the Apply Online link after registration
  • Candidates will have to fill the registration forms in two sections.
  • In Part-I of the application form, candidates are required to provide their personal information such as Name, Address, Email ID, Contact Number, and Parents’ names.
  • Part-II of the application process entails paying the application fee, uploading scanned documents including the candidate’s photograph and signature, and selecting the examination center.
  • After completing the necessary details in the application form, proceed to submit the form.
